Admission
Unless otherwise notified, all policies posted are currently in effect.
Acupuncture & TCMD Programs
Students must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Have completed a high school education with an Alberta high school diploma or non-Alberta equivalent, verified by transcript, with 60% or better in Grade 12 English, Mathematics and Science.
- If previous schooling was in a language other than English, students must provide proof of passing a TOEFL exam.
- A successful interview with School Administration.
plus ONE of the following:
- Graduation from high school for a minimum of two years OR
- Successful completion of one year of post-secondary education (at an institution recognized by ACATCM) or equivalent training verified by transcript(s).
Graduate Programs
Applicants must meet at least ONE of the following criteria:
- Registered / Licensed Acupuncturists with Minimum of three-years clinical experience
- Licensed Physician*
- Bachelor's of Medicine*
- Bachelor's of Science Degree*
Upon acceptance, students will receive acceptance notice from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.
*1-2 years of pre-study courses may apply.
Distance Learning Students
Our Distance Learning program has the same admission standards as the respective on-campus programs. Please refer to the specific program you are interested in on the navigational panel to the left for detailed information.
Students may start the program of their choice year-round, and can choose a combination of courses (Note: some courses require completion of prerequisite courses).
Master of Herbology
Students must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Have completed a high school education with an Alberta high school diploma or non-Alberta equivalent, verified by transcript, with 60% or better in Grade 12 English, Mathematics.
- If previous schooling was in a language other than English, students must provide proof of passing a TOEFL exam.
- A successful interview with School Administration.
Application Procedures
To obtain application forms, please contact our Registration Office or download them from our website. The completed forms must be submitted to our Registration Office, together with:
- Copies of certificates awarded and transcripts from other institutions that you have attended.
- Two recent passport-sized photographs.
- A non-refundable application fee of $100.00 in Canadian funds (Money Order preferred) payable to ACATCM.
- A letter of intent that states your background, motivation for choosing this profession, etc.
- Two referral letters from professionals such as an acupuncturist, TCM doctor, medical doctor or other health service provider, lawyer, accountant, bank manager, etc.
Upon receipt of the above, an interview will be arranged either by telephone or in person.
An acceptance letter will be sent to the successful applicants and will contain further instructions for class preparation and schedules.
Credit Transfer
- Students who have completed equivalent courses in other institutions may apply for credit transfer. Each student will be considered on an individual basis.
- A $100.00 transfer fee applies for each transfer request.
- A maximum of 50% required courses can be transferred.
