Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is an injury caused by too much pressure on the median nerve in the wrist. Western medicine treats CTS with anti-inflammatory drugs, wrist splints, corticosteroid injection and surgery.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are six meridian channels flowing through the arm and wrist. Since CTS is an existing condition, regardless of the cause, it is already blocking the energy that should be flowing through the wrist, and may require acupuncture points from all six meridians to smooth the energy flow. The moment energy starts to flow freely, the healing begins.

Early treatment is key for most disorders and this is extremely true for patients suffering from CTS. Prolonged and untreated CTS may eventually require surgery to prevent permanent nerve damage.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is common and treatable. More often than not, however, patients come to us after the operation has been performed and the pain has restarted, and this makes treatment more difficult. The scar tissue resulting form surgery is irreversible, and often blocks the channel even further, resulting in continued pain. For better and faster results, we recommend people with CTM contact us and begin acupuncture treatment as early as possible.
