Admission Requirement

Candidates for admission to Alberta College of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine should meet the following requirement accordingly, and should have demonstrated maturity, professional ethics, and ability to learn.

 

Acupuncture & TCMD Programs

Students must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Have completed a high school education with an Alberta high school diploma or non-Alberta equivalent, verified by transcript, with 60% or better in Grade 12 English, Mathematics and Science.
  • If previous schooling was in a language other than English, students must provide proof of passing a TOEFL exam.
  • A successful interview with School Administration.

plus ONE of the following:

  • Graduation from high school for a minimum of two years OR
  • Successful completion of one year of post-secondary education (at an institution recognized by ACATCM) or equivalent training verified by transcript(s).

 

Graduate Programs

Applicants must meet at least ONE of the following criteria:

  • Registered / Licensed Acupuncturists with Minimum of three-years clinical experience
  • Licensed Physician*
  • Bachelor's of Medicine*
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree*

Upon acceptance, students will receive acceptance notice from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.

*1-2 years of pre-study courses may apply, based on transcript evaluation.

 

Distance Learning Courses

Our Distance Learning program has the same admission standards as the respective on-campus programs. Please refer to the specific program you are interested in on the navigational panel to the left for detailed information.

Students may start the program of their choice year-round, and can choose a combination of courses.

Distance learning courses are for special interests only, and are not credited in Alberta.

 

Master of Herbology

Students must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Have completed a high school education with an Alberta high school diploma or non-Alberta equivalent, verified by transcript, with 60% or better in Grade 12 English, Mathematics.
  • If previous schooling was in a language other than English, students must provide proof of passing a TOEFL exam.
  • A successful interview with School Administration.
