Admission Pathways

ACATCM welcomes applications from individuals who are ready to pursue a meaningful and rewarding path in acupuncture and integrative healthcare. We recognize that students enter this profession from many different paths — from recent high school graduates to experienced healthcare professionals — and we value the diverse perspectives they bring.

Regular Admission

  • Alberta high school diploma or equivalent
  • Grade 12 English and one of: Biology (preferred), Chemistry, or Mathematics
  • Minimum grade of 65% in required subjects
  • Minimum overall admission average of 65%

Applicants educated outside Alberta are assessed on equivalent qualifications.

Post-Secondary Transfer Admission

  • Submit official transcripts from all institutions attended
  • Good academic standing with minimum GPA of 2.3/4.0 (or 65%)
  • Meet B.Ac admission requirements including English proficiency

Diploma-to-Degree (Acupuncture & TCM) Pathway

Eligibility

  • Graduates of accredited acupuncture or TCM diploma programs in Canada
  • Current ACATCM diploma students
  • Applicants with comparable formal training

Advancing Standing

  • Transfer credit based on completed coursework and clinical training alignment with B.Ac learning outcomes
  • Maximum 50% of total program credits may be transferred
  • All students must complete at least 50% of B.Ac at ACATCM
A non-refundable $250 Credential Assessment Fee applies

Mature Applicant Admission

  • 21 years of age or older by first day of classes
  • Out of full-time high school for at least two years
  • Meet program’s English requirement
  • Submit portfolio of relevant experience
  • Complete admissions assessment and attend interview with Admissions Committee

May be asked to provide additional information and statements to demonstrate program readiness.

English Language Proficiency

Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency if their previous education was not completed in English.

Post-Secondary Education

Evaluation from World Education Services (WES). Course-by-course evaluation is recommended if applying for transfer credit.

    Choose Your Pathway

    Review the four admission pathways and identify which applies to your background.

    Prepare Your Documents

    Gather official transcripts, English proficiency test scores, and any supporting documents required for your pathway.

  3. 3

    Submit Your Application

    Complete the online application form and pay the non-refundable $150 application fee by e-transfer to admin@acatcm.com or wire transfer.

  4. 4

    Attend an Admissions Interview

    Qualified applicants are invited to a personal or virtual interview with the ACATCM Admissions Committee.

  5. 5

    Receive Your Offer

    Successful applicants receive a formal offer letter. Accept your offer and submit the $500 enrollment confirmation deposit (international: $2,000) to secure your place.

Regulatory Framework: ACATCM’s Bachelor of Acupuncture (B.Ac) is a recognized undergraduate degree program offered under Alberta’s Post-secondary Learning Act. Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAA) as Registered Acupuncturists (Dr. Ac.), subject to meeting CAA registration requirements.
