September 22, 2026 Calgary, Alberta Community & Cross-Sector Engagement

Dr. Benny Xu (Dr. Ac.), Executive Director of the Alberta College of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACATCM), attended a reception on September 21 marking the 77th National Day of the People’s Republic of China.

Hosted by the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Calgary at the Calgary Petroleum Club, the reception brought together representatives from government, business, education, and community organizations across Alberta.

Consul General Mme. Zhao Liying welcomed guests and delivered remarks marking the occasion. The Honourable Tara Sawyer, Alberta’s Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, also attended and addressed the gathering.

During the reception, Dr. Xu met with representatives from a range of sectors, reconnected with community and institutional contacts, and exchanged perspectives with attendees from across Alberta.

Dr. Xu also serves as a member of the Alberta-China Advisory Committee, further reflecting his involvement in community and cross-sector engagement across Alberta. His participation in the reception provided an opportunity to maintain relationships with leaders and organizations beyond the College and to remain connected with broader developments and conversations taking place across the community.

For ACATCM, these relationships are relevant to its work as a post-secondary institution serving students, practitioners, patients, and community partners. Maintaining connections across education, healthcare, government, business, and community organizations helps the College stay informed, build relationships, and identify opportunities for future collaboration and outreach.
