History of Moxibustion

The practice of Moxibustion therapy involves the burning of the plant Mugwort (Artemisia or Aiye in Chinese) on or near the surface of the skin. The use of moxibustion dates back to over 2500 years in ancient China.

The Moxibustiontherapy is an integral component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is in modern times considered part of the scope of Acupuncture, as it is applied to the meridian systems of the body.

The Chinese word for "Acupuncture" actually translates to "Needle Moxibustion", hence why most modern text books have Acupuncture Moxibustion in the title.

Throughout history Moxibustion has been documented to help address a broad spectrum of disease conditions ranging from pain to gynecological issues.
