Dr. Dennis Lee

Dr. Dennis Lee, HBSc, M.Sc, TCMD, R.Ac

Dr. Dennis Lee Dr. Dennis Lee is the Co-President of the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACATCM) and the Director of the Moxacology Institute of North America (MINA). He is a highly sought-after lecturer in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and has been inspiring students and professionals around the world for seven-teen years. Having a unique integrated background in both Western sciences and Chinese Medicine Dr. Lee has a very unique approach for lecturing and clinical practice.

Coming from a traditional Chinese family living in Canada, Dr. Lee’s journey into TCM began at a very early age. He took Chinese herbs when ill, was exposed to treatments such as cupping, scraping therapy (Gua Sha), blood-letting and Acupuncture. However, having a father who was working in the field of cancer research steered him in the direction of Western sciences. This led Dennis to study Biology with a focus in Genetics at the University of Western Ontario. He then worked full time as a laboratory technician at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Academia Sinica in Taiwan in the infectious diseases department. His interest in sciences prompted Dr. Lee to pursue a Master’s of Science degree in Cell Biology from the University of Alberta, during which he was also the first author on an article published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry.

During his time in graduate school Dennis began to truly ponder how the human body functions outside of standard physiological parameters. His solid foundations in molecular biology and physiology combined with his early exposure to Chinese philosophy and healing lead Dennis to pursue formal training in TCM. This pursuit of knowledge has led him to ACATCM, Jiangxi University of TCM, Beijing University of TCM, Zhejiang University of TCM, Yunnan University of TCM, and professional clinical facilities in Taiwan.

Dr. Lee has been a guest speaker for the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University, various professional associations in both Western and Eastern medicine, Eight Branches Academy of Eastern Medicine, Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (OCTCM) and the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAAA). He has been interviewed and consulted with in both Alberta and Ontario in numerous articles and reports in both printed media and news broadcasts.

Currently Dr. Lee is the leading North American lecturer for Heat Sensitive Moxibustion. His goal is to bring this ground-breaking technology from China to Canadians who are in need of medical attention. Dennis’s passion is to educate and share knowledge to people so that they can improve their own quality of life and assist others who require assistance.
