Dr. Shawn ZhouAs one of the founding faculty members, Dr. Shawn Zhou earned his Bachelor’s Degree specializing in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), China in 1983 and Master Degree specializing in Medical and Pharmaceutical Research from Free University of Brussels, Belgium in 1994.

Dr. Dennis LeeConsidered as one of the top acupuncture instructors in the country, Dr. Lee received his certificate of clinical training in acupuncture and Chinese herbs from the Zhe Jiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hangzhou, China in 2002. At the same year, Dr. Lee graduated from the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine as the top student of his class and became a registered acupuncturist in Alberta.

Dr. Yangyang Xu Dr. Yangyang Xu graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in immunology and infection. During her studies, she became increasingly fascinated with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) because of its holistic principles and focus on working with one’s own body to heal itself. After graduation, she decided to go to China and pursue her studies at Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine. She completed her Master’s degree and then was subsequently offered a full Chinese Government Scholarship by the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Education to complete her PhD degree.

Dr. Colton Oswald

Dr. Colton Oswald is the co-President of the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and an elected director of the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAAA). Dr. Oswald began teaching at the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2001. His passion for all facets of Oriental medicine keeps him studying and researching to improve his skills and understanding. This has led him to pursue advanced training in fields such as pulse diagnosis and auricular medicine.

Dr. Cathy LiDr. Cathy Li is a Registered Acupuncturist in Alberta and has been practicing Chinese Medicine in Calgary since 1997.

Dr. Cathy Li followed her mother, Dr. Lai-Heung Yuen, a well-known TCMD in Hong Kong and Calgary, and began learning Chinese medicine and Acupuncture from a very young age.

Dr. Lynda SmithLynda Smith first started her career as a massage therapist, completing her studies at the Career College of Holistic Health and Clinics (Calgary) in 1995. Her main focus was on relaxation and sports massage. This gave her the opportunity to work with athletes from across Canada who were competing at the XV Canada games held in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Dr. Angela LeeDr. Angela Lee is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 2000 and Masters Degree specializing in Pediatrics from the Zhejiang College of TCM in 2003. Dr. Lee has also worked in the Health Promotions department of the Chinese Medicine Association (CMA) in Beijing, China, for two years.

Dr. Lee actively practiced TCM for years in Beijing and various cities throughout the province of Zhejiang. She also worked on laboratory research projects focusing on TCM Pediatrics. Dr. Lee focuses on the quality of acupuncture education, as well as use of acupuncture and herbs to treat complicated conditions.

​Dr. Ganna Shalygina is an acupuncturist and alumni of ACATCM, holding Diplomas in Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine along with the Diploma in Massage Therapy from Calgary's Mount Royal University.

Pursuing her academic studies and traveling worldwide, Dr. Ganna has gained a deep understanding of how complementary health modalities, when used conjunctively, can bring on healing on many different levels- encompassing the physical, spiritual and emotional states of being.

Dr. Skye Van Munster Skye Van Munster earned her Bachelors Degree in Applied Science majoring in Chinese Medicine from the University of Western Sydney, Australia. She then completed an advanced clinical internship in Nanjing, China at a leading Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital. Here she spent four months as a medical intern in the Gynecology, Rheumatology, Pediatrics and Gastroenterology departments.

Skye has been practicing as a Doctor of Chinese Medicine for over eight years, effectively treating a wide range of health conditions and disorders. She utilizes all aspects of Chinese Medicine in her treatments including acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, acupressure, Qi Gong breathing instruction, Tuina Massage, Herbal Medicine and Chinese Nutrition.

Dr. Benny XuDr. Benny Xu is the founder of Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACATCM). Dr. Xu graduated from the Liaoning University of Chinese Medicine, and has been practicing acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Calgary since 1992.

Dr. Norman LiuDoctor Norman Liu graduated from Fujian Medical University, China in 1991. For the following seven years, he practiced as a physician at Mindong Hospital in Fujian. Upon completing a one-year hematology specialist training at Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai in 1999, he specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of adults with blood abnormalities and solid cancers at Mindong Hospital-- publishing several articles in The Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma, and serving as a Committee Member for the 4th Session of the Hematology Branch of the Fujian Province Medical Association.

Master Fan MoAwarded the title of “Distinguished Athlete” by the Chinese Wushu Association and the China Ministry of Sports.

Master Mo was a member of the Chinese National Wu Shu team in 2000, 2001, and 2002, achieved Chinese Wushu Coach Certificated.

From 1997 to 2002, Master Mo achieved over 20 medals in National and International Tai Chi & Wu Shu Championships, including:

​Dr. Tara Drobot is a licensed chiropractor who has been practicing in the Calgary area since April of 2000.

Dr. Drobot holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Doctorate in Chiropractic. Her passion for alternative health is what drives her to learn new things in this exciting field and she is thrilled to have the chance to share it now in a learning environment. She is currently teaching the laboratory and X-ray portion of the course.
