Position Overview
The Alberta College of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACATCM) invites applications for a permanent, full-time faculty position to provide academic leadership in undergraduate degree curriculum design and implementation for its Bachelor of Acupuncture (B.Ac) program, currently under regulatory review.
This role is a leadership-focused academic appointment responsible for ensuring the academic coherence, integrity, and degree-level rigor of the program in accordance with Canadian post-secondary quality assurance expectations and the Canadian Degree Qualifications Framework.
Key Responsibilities
(Primary focus: Undergraduate Degree Curriculum Leadership)
Provide academic leadership in the design, development, and implementation of the curriculum for the Bachelor of Acupuncture program
Ensure disciplinary integrity, internal coherence, and appropriate sequencing of theoretical, practical, and clinical learning across the program
Oversee curriculum mapping and alignment with:
- approved Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
- degree-level learning expectations
- CAQC requirements for professional undergraduate degrees
Support the development and review of course outlines, learning outcomes, and assessment strategies
Work collaboratively with faculty to ensure pedagogical alignment and consistency across courses
Contribute to Academic Council, curriculum committees, and program governance
Support continuous curriculum improvement and program quality assurance processes
Teaching responsibilities, if any, will be limited and aligned with the leadership nature of the role.
Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in a relevant field, such as:
- Education (curriculum, higher education, or instructional design)
- Health Sciences
- Public Health
- Health Policy
- or a closely related discipline
Demonstrated experience in undergraduate degree curriculum design and implementation in Canada
Strong understanding of degree-level learning expectations and outcomes-based curriculum design
Experience working within Canadian post-secondary quality assurance or accreditation frameworks
Ability to provide sustained academic leadership within a professional or applied degree context
Preferred Qualificatons / Assets
Experience with professional or applied undergraduate degree programs
Familiarity with regulated health professions education
Experience working with interdisciplinary or clinically integrated curricula
Knowledge of acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, or integrative health (asset, not required)
Appointment Context
This is a permanent, institutionally anchored academic position intended to ensure sustained leadership and oversight of ACATCM’s Bachelor of Acupuncture program, currently pending regulatory approval.
The position is designed to be in place prior to program implementation in order to support both the initial launch and the ongoing academic development of the program once approval is obtained.
Compensation
Compensation will be negotiated based on qualifications, teaching experience, and workload.
