Student Loans and Grants
Applying for student loans can be daunting, but we’re here to help you through the loan application process.
Eligibility
Student loans are available to Canadian citizens, and permanent residents. Students wanting to apply for provincial student loans must apply to the province they reside in. Provincial student loan programs will provide details their eligibility requirements. Please check with your respective province for more details.
Alberta Residents
Residency for student loans is determined differently for independent and dependent students and information can be found on the Alberta Student Aid Eligibility webpage.
Out of Province Student Loans
Non-residents of Alberta should apply for student grants and loans through their local provincial offices.
Loans vs Grants
Students applying for financial aid are potentially able to receive loans and/or grants. Loans are funds that have to be returned to the lender once you are no longer in school. Grants are funds that do not have to be returned to the lender.
Alberta residents can now apply for student loans and grants for the academic year through Alberta Student Aid.
