Bladder Shu
Location:
In the region of the sacrum, 1.5 cun lateral to the middle sacral crest, at the level of the 2nd posterior sacral foramen.
Classification:
Back-Shu point of the Urinary Bladder
Indications:
- Enuresis, low back and sacral pain and stiffness.
- Lin syndrome/urinary retention, diarrhea, constipation, diabetes, sciatica, genital swelling/sores, cold weak knees and lower legs, xu fatigue, spleen xu: poor digestion, seminal emission, female abdominal masses.
- Wind in the head with stiffness of spinal column, wind patterns, abdominal fullness, metritis, ovaritis, beriberi, cold abscess.
Functions:
Regulates the Bladder, resolves Dampness and Damp-Heat, removes stagnation, opens the water passages.
Notes:
UB 28 is commonly used for urinary complications. Back-Shu points are corresponding points on the back where the Qi of the respective Zang-Fu organ is infused. If the Five Zang organs are diseased, abnormal reactions appear on the Back-Shu points. Back-Shu points have a direct therapeutic effect on the diseases of the Five Zang organs.
