ACATCM Founded by Dr. Benny Xu
Alberta College of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACATCM) was founded on May 8, 1997, by the visionary Dr. Benny Xu. ACATCM is the first institution in Alberta to provide professional education and training for acupuncturists and traditional Chinese medicine practitioners.
This historical partnership is the first of its kind between Canada and China in the education of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Its milestone inspired a new collaborative effort on passing the knowledge of ancient Chinese medicine to Canadians in the twenty-first century.

Dr. Benny Xu Honoured with the Alberta’s Centennial Medal
Alberta’s Centennial Medal was awarded to Dr. Benny Xu by the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in recognition of the outstanding services and contributions to the development of the education and training of traditional Chinese medicine in Alberta.

This was the first group of students from ACATCM who went to study at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. They were granted the Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Congratulations!

Huatuo Institute Founded by Dr. Benny Xu
Huatuo Institute is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to clinical research in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, as well as promoting meaningful development of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine in Canada and North America. ACATCM is proud to be a key partner of the Huatuo Institute.
This event was attended by over 130 distinguished friends and guests. We were delighted to host Counsel General Lu Xu, Deputy Counsel Yin Juming of the PRC, Mr. Gary Mar, and Mr. Jason Luan. While they were unable to attend, Mayor Nahed Nenshi, Mr. Sean Chu and Mr. Jason Kenny sent their congratulations and best wishes.

Sino North American Partnership For Traditional Chinese Medicine (SNAPTCM) is an international collaborative effort between: Beijing Wanfang Data, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China, Alberta College of Acupuncture and TCM, Huatuo Institute, and the Huatuo Health Society.
This partnership points to a bright future of cooperation for the two academic institutions, with its best wishes to the development of traditional Chinese medicine in Canadian society!

ACATCM first recognized the seriousness of Covid-19 early January 2020, and started making plans. Our state-of-the-art online education platform has allowed us to continue to deliver quality education. Behind the scenes we are constructing a new system to enable us to be a leader in the post-covid-19 era!
