“Success comes from a supportive community, built by people who are driven to make a positive difference.

These are the types of individuals you will meet at ACATCM.”

– Dr. Lynda Smith, Vice President, Registered Acupuncturist

Founded in 1997, the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACATCM) was established to help form the next generation of practitioners, participating in a diverse community under the principles of authenticity, integrity, and determination. ACATCM is at the forefront of academic leadership, providing excellence in education and creating a strong foundation leading to student success.

As the first institution in Alberta providing professional education in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, these principles have guided ACATCM in its growth, team building, and being of service to the community. We have since established strong local and international partnerships and recognition and expanded as the only acupuncture and TCM education, practice and research institution in Canada.

Internationally, ACATCM is recognized for its consistent pursuit of knowledge and education which has led ACATCM to become the first North American training center for a unique moxibustion therapy gaining clinical significance and popularity.

ACATCM programs are also globally respected, which has allowed ACATCM students to enhance their learning by travelling to other countries and experiencing the cultural connections in their studies. This also means that your certificate is more widely recognized and allows you to move from provinces and countries with little hassle. Students from other countries can feel confident that they are choosing an institution that provides a caliber of programs that meets international approval.

ACATCM strives to give back to its community. Working alongside fellow educational bodies, ACATCM outreach contributes to a positive and supportive impact, centering on health and wellness in community programs. Recently this included free weekend acupuncture appointments for the public and free treatments for those undergoing addiction rehabilitation.
