Director’s Message
Welcome to ACATCM
Welcome to ACATCM, where you will embark on a journey of exceptional education and a meaningful career in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Our institution is deeply rooted in the oldest healing traditions and heritages of the East, passed down for over two thousand years. By enrolling with us, you will discover the great healing power of TCM, which is not only a healing tradition but also a philosophy, art, and value system that is deeply ingrained in Eastern culture. At ACATCM, you will experience TCM as a beautiful way of living.
The popularity of TCM is growing as patients, healthcare providers, and policymakers worldwide seek to integrate it into the healthcare system. Top US universities such as Harvard and John Hopkins have been supporting evidence-based policymaking in TCM and integrative medicine through collaborative educational, clinical, and research initiatives for over two decades. TCM treatment modalities have been proven to be effective, and healthcare facilities across Canada and North America, such as University Health Network, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Mount Sinai Hospital, Harvard Medical School, the Mayo Clinic, Walter Reed Military Medical Centre, and John Hopkins University, now offer TCM treatments to their patients. This has created new job opportunities for highly educated TCM practitioners.
For more than 26 years, ACATCM has been at the forefront of the Acupuncture and TCM profession in Alberta. Our graduates achieve unparalleled success, consistently surpassing peers with a 100% passing rate in Pan-Canadian Licensing Exams. Our curriculum, enriched with both TCM and Western medicine, equips you with the knowledge and skills necessary to become an expert acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist.
We believe that TCM will continue to play an essential role in the development of our healthcare system. ACATCM leads evidence-based research in integrative medicine in Canada. In collaboration with the University of Calgary, we launched the Alberta Complementary Health Integration Project (ABCHIP) in 2021, the world’s first-of-its-kind integrative medicine project. ABCHIP was a great success, leading to the launch of the Alberta Societal Health Integration program (ABSHIP) in August 2022 and the Alberta Innovative Disabilities Program (AIDP) in the Spring of 2023. These community-based integrative medicine programs provide TCM services to vulnerable populations with pain and mental health concerns, and ACATCM is committed to leading academic research in TCM in Canada.
We inspire leadership at ACATCM and do not wait for the future; we form the future. We welcome you to our community and invite you to embark on this exciting journey with us.
