Student Loans & Grants

Government student loans and grants are available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents enrolled in eligible programs at ACATCM. You apply through your home province or territory of residence — not necessarily Alberta’s.

Provincial — Alberta

Alberta Student Aid

Needs-based loans and grants for Alberta residents enrolled in designated programs. Eligibility depends on enrollment status, program type, and demonstrated financial need. Apply online through the Alberta Student Aid portal — ideally six to eight weeks before your semester start date.

📋 Important: Program Eligibility & TCM Note Government student loans and grants apply to regulated programs. At ACATCM:
  • The Bachelor of Acupuncture (B.Ac) is fully eligible — it is a recognized undergraduate degree offered under Alberta’s Post-secondary Learning Act, within the regulated health profession of acupuncture in Alberta.
  • The Acupuncture Diploma is fully eligible — acupuncture is a regulated health profession in Alberta under the Health Professions Act, governed by the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAA).
  • The Traditional Chinese Medicine Diploma is not currently eligible for Alberta or Canada government student loan funding as a program. However, because it includes the full Acupuncture Diploma curriculum within its first three years — and the Acupuncture Diploma is eligible for government loans — students may be able to access funding during that diploma portion of their studies. The final year of the TCM program is completed without government student loan support. Prospective students are encouraged to speak with our Admissions team to understand how funding applies to their individual program pathway.
  • Students from other provinces apply through their home province’s student aid program — not Alberta’s, unless Alberta is your province of residence.
